Detoxing After the Holidays
Many of us got after our merriment during the holidays and are doing our best to give our bodies a break in January. Whether you are going for Dry January or just hoping to cut down a bit from December, here are 3 tools I am using to help support my body’s detoxification efforts and overall liver health. Give them a try and see if they work for you:
1) Sauna
I am committing to 2X a week in my HigherDOSE infrared sauna blanket. As this really gets you sweating, it is a great detox tool. It doesn’t hurt that other benefits to a sauna session include: reducing inflammation, improving blood circulation, fighting oxidative stress, increasing mood/decreasing depression and anxiety, improving sleep quality, glowing skin, improving metabolism, a better ability to manage stress, and more.
If you don’t have a sauna blanket at home, which I’m assuming most of you don’t, search out a local option at a gym or spa.
For Montclair peeps, head on over to ChillRX Cryotherapy Montclair.
A good, inexpensive alternative is an Epsom salt bath at home. Climb on in, relax and sweat it out!
2) Glutathione
This is our body’s master antioxidant that protects our cells from the negative effects of free radicals and toxins. Our liver especially depends on glutathione to help in both Phase I and Phase II of liver detoxification. I always take this supplement when I drink alcohol, but I’m also taking it daily this January to help cleanse my liver and give it some extra love.

3) Castor Oil Packs
This health hack has been used for thousands of years to promote detoxification, increase circulation, reduce inflammation, and help hormonal balance. Specifically for detox, they work by stimulating your lymphatic system and helping move toxins through your liver, kidneys, gallbladder and colon.
